Education

Mercy Regional takes great pride in its role as a distinguished host site for the esteemed Paramedic Program offered by Owensboro Community and Technical College (OCTC). We are delighted to announce the commencement of a new class, which will convene on-site at Mercy Regional Station 1 every August, affording an exceptional opportunity for individuals keen on advancing their educational pursuits in the field of paramedicine.

To ensure that prospective candidates are well-prepared for this rigorous program, certain prerequisites are mandatory. Aspiring students are required to have successfully completed courses in Anatomy and Physiology, as well as Medical Terminology. These foundational courses lay the essential groundwork for a comprehensive understanding of the paramedic curriculum.

The program, which is proudly affiliated with OCTC, is thoughtfully designed to provide a flexible and accessible learning experience. The didactic components of the program are conveniently delivered online through the Blackboard platform. Here, students will engage with a rich array of resources, including mini-lectures and skill lab courses, all designed to facilitate a robust and comprehensive learning experience.

One of the key advantages of this program lies in its accelerated schedule, which enables students to complete the curriculum in approximately 17 months. This timeline encompasses both classroom instruction and clinical ride time, ensuring that graduates emerge from the program well-prepared and equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the demanding field of paramedicine.

At Mercy Regional, we are dedicated to fostering educational excellence and empowering individuals to pursue rewarding careers in healthcare. We look forward to welcoming the next cohort of dedicated students to our campus in August, as they embark on a transformative journey toward becoming proficient and compassionate paramedic professionals.
